BBC Studios

BBC Studios was created as a commercial production company in 2017. It took its present form in 2018, with the merger of two existing BBC subsidiaries, bringing together the BBC’s award-winning former in-house production arm with 100 years of content-making experience, and BBC Worldwide, which oversaw the successful global distribution and exploitation of programmes and brands from the BBC, and many in the wider UK independent production sector. Further transformation followed in 2019, when BBC Studios became the sole owners of UKTV, and in 2021 the in-house content team for BBC Three and the commercial teams behind Global News and BBC.com joined the business. BBC Children’s Production joined in 2022, bringing Blue Peter and JoJo & Gran Gran into the fold. We invest in, and produce, ambitious content of the highest quality: stories which appeal to audiences in the UK and around the world. We’re able to take an idea from thought to screen and beyond, with activities ranging from programme making through to global content sales, channels and streaming, consumer products, live events and much more..
