London Zoo, a ZSL Conservation Zoo

London Zoo was the world’s first scientific zoo, and we’ve been building stronger connections to wildlife for nearly 200 years. For generations, we have brought people closer to nature, using our expertise to protect wildlife while inspiring a lifelong love of animals in the conservationists of tomorrow. Under-pinned by world-leading science, London Zoo plays an active role in ZSL’s global conservation work. Home to many endangered species – and some now extinct in the wild – London Zoo is a unique centre of conservation excellence, deepening understanding of animals and supporting new and innovative ways to restore wildlife.
